16. Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) Policy

Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) refers to a more rigorous investigation applied in addition to standard due diligence procedures. EDD is required in the following circumstances:

16.1 High-Risk Customers

EDD will be conducted if the customer is classified as high-risk. This includes but is not limited to:

16.2 High-Risk Transactions

EDD will also apply to high-risk transactions, including:

16.3 Enhanced Due Diligence Measures

During EDD, the following steps are undertaken:

16.4 HighRisk Transactions

Ascertain greater details on nature of the high-risk transaction

In situations where the firm has identified a high-risk transaction, it is vital to understand fully the nature of that transaction and have evidence to corroborate this. This will identify potential criminal activity.

Where a high-risk transaction has been identified, but the customer has not been identified as high risk, it will be necessary to re-assess the risk status of the customer to ascertain if they are high risk and therefore require EDD to be undertaken on them.

16.5 Senior Management Sign-Off

Any relationship or transaction requiring EDD must be reviewed and approved by BSICards senior management before proceeding.
